Angela and Nelson are Maried

Whether it be that I am assisting another photographer or photographing my own couples, I wake up early for the wedding day. On this particular day, I was to second shoot with Joee for Angela and Nelson’s big day. Like clock work I get myself ready for the big day by going through the itinerary one more time, to make sure I have the appropriate maps and contact information as well as double checking my bags which were packed the day before. However on this morning there was nothing routine about it. Out of the corner of my eye a bright red light flashes incessantly, it appears my phone had something to tell me. I grabbed it to find  a missed call from none other than Nelson, the groom. Strange, I thought to myself, why on earth would Nelson have called? I dialed his number and he responded in a calm yet cheerful voice. Apparently he and the boys were grabbing a McD’s breakfast and wanted to know if I wanted anything. I was speechless, I was caught off guard. Don’t get me wrong, Angela and Nelson are one of the nicest couples I have ever had the pleasure to work with, they were totally cool when I documented their Laos ceremony. Just to have someone call you on their special day to make sure you have breakfast is special and thoughtful to say the least. When I hung up the phone, I could not help but smile and think to myself, today was going to be a great day!

photo of the week

While doing some cleaning on my computer I found the above image that was created near an old train station in St.Thomas, Ontario. I must say it was a little creepy having all these birds circling and hover above.  Hope everyone is having a great week!

Michelle and Stuart and the awesome backyard wedding

Any way you slice it, all weddings are different and unique. I always encourage all my couples to consider bringing in something that best represents themselves into the wedding. It is this element that shows the couple’s true selves and personalities to their guests. The feeling would be something along the lines of stumbling across something and immediate think “that is sooo them”. The thing is, that you would not be the only one to draw this conclusion, other friends and family would say the exact same thing. It is that element that makes the wedding so much more special and intimate, to just “know”. Well, Michelle and Stuart accomplished this perfectly, the moment people arrived at Michelle’s parent’s home, they were greeted with home made signage directing them everywhere from the ceremony, food stations, to the washrooms. Used glass jars and tea tins were vessels for beautiful flower arrangements that were scattered around the backyard. Everything felt so warm, thoughtfully laid and just sooo them! What’s more was that this wedding was planned in the ballpark of 6 months which is amazing!! Here are some of my favorites of the day.

Michelle and her bridesmaids had were video chatting with a close friend who unfortunately could not make it to the wedding.

Congrats to Michelle and Stuart, thanks Ron for having me work with you again on this amazing wedding.
