So it begins…fungke blog is the documentation of my failures and success’ in my pursuit as a wedding photographer. I am not one of many words but I really want to document my journey into becoming a successful photographer and I hope that others will help shape me into such.
I never thought that I would be an image maker. Traditional mediums available at the time were never appealing to me, they generally took too much time, space and I lacked the patience to work with it. However when I played around with Photoshop 4.0 way back when…I was hooked. I had instant gratification for my work, I could play with filters and effects to see what looks best to make my art. What’s best…I could clear the canvas and start over any time. My experimentation with photoshop branched into web design. Free geocities websites and custom asian avenue pages became my world. The attraction was that I could create my work and I could share it with others around the world instantly! Genius! The technology was so easy to work with and it just got better and better. My love for creating interactive multimedia naturally evolved into print design. I have been working online so long that I wanted to make something tangible. Print was the answer. Not only did I have the design aspect but you had the luxury to pick the papers to match, creative folds and so many more ways to display work. It was not long until I picked up photography. My friend Ron was the avid hobbyist, he convinced me to pick up a digital SLR over the prosumer type digital cameras. The moment I held the camera and took a photo, it was blissful. It was a crappy picture I can assure you, but the feeling of reading one’s surroundings, setting the camera to work accordingly was so gratifying. Ron always refered to it as working for the shot.
I have been shooting since 2005, “professionally” so to speak since 2007. After a season of following various wedding photographers, I believe that this is the stream I want to follow…I have been trying for the past 10 minutes to articulate my attraction to photographing people, especially during a wedding. I will have to come back to this.
In any case, I have babbled too much…I will be posting photos in the coming weeks of weddings which I have assisted this past season. Please feel free to leave comments. Thanks!
